Card Magic Tricks

There are a large number of card magic tricks which can be performed very easily and just require a little bit of practice. These card magic tricks can impress an audience and also act as good starters for a magic show. A few such tricks are explained below to help you get on with your performance.

Card Trick Number One :

Before facing the audience, take out 1 Joker, an Ace and all the number cards from 1 to 10. Now, in front of everyone, lay the cards face down in the following order : 6 5 4 3 2 A J 10 9 8 7. Then call a volunteer and ask him to move the cards one at a time from right to left. Just for instance, if the volunteer moves 3 cards, then the position of the cards would be 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 A J 10.

You do not need to count or know this while the volunteer is moving the cards. This is just for explanation. Now, after he has moved as many cards as he has wanted, you silently count 7 cards from left to right. Turn the 7th card over; it will be always be 3. It does not matter how many cards are moved, the 7th card will always be a 3. But, if no cards are moved, then the 7th card will always be a Joker.

Card Trick Number Two :

Take a toothpick and cut it to the same width as that of the shorter side of a card. Insert it into the hem of a handkerchief ensuring that it will not fall out.

Now, spread a deck of cards onto a table. Put the handkerchief on top of the cards with the side with the toothpick facing down. With your thumb and finger, pick up the toothpick and pretend and say that now you are picking up one card.

Everyone will think that it is one card that you are picking as the edges of the toothpick will resemble a card. Then just shake the handkerchief and say some magic words to make the 'card' disappear. And show everyone that there is no card underneath it.
